Xavier Gipson Named TicketSmarter WAC Offensive Player of the Week for Week Three

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Sophomore wideout Xavier Gipson has been named the WAC's Offensive Player of the Year for Week Three, according to a release from the league office on Monday morning. Gipson, a Dallas native, recorded his second career three-TD game in leading SFA to a lopsided win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.

Gipson hauled in three receptions in one half of play, amassing 131 yards through the air and a pair of touchdown receptions. Gipson also returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown, ending with over 200 all-purpose yards.

The award is the first such award of the season for Gipson, who leads the WAC in receiving yards per game (112.3) and is tied for second in receiving touchdowns, with three. Gipson also ranks within the top five nationally among FCS athletes in total receiving yardage.
