In regards to the status of the current world, I think we can all agree that the pandemic caught us all off guard. On the football team's end, we were right on the tail end of our spring season and we were on a one week break from practice when the crazy news broke out about how serious this virus was escalating. The whole team was basically home during this time, waiting until we had to come back up to school to play our spring game. As the seriousness of the pandemic rose, SFA Athletics called off all spring sports, along with our spring game. It was really unfortunate because we felt like we put in all the work during our prior practices, and it was disappointing that we couldn't play the game against each other.
It was very different competing during the midst of the pandemic. Looking back, I was excited that we actually got to play in the fall because almost every team in America didn't know if they were going to be able to play. It was unfortunate how some of the teams we see during conference play weren't able to play in those games, as everyone looked forward to playing in those year in and year out.Testing every week wasn't fun, but I feel like the SFA Athletic Department as a whole dealt with the uncertain situation very well, as we had limited numbers of positive tests throughout the whole fall season.
Although we went through this past season with COVID-19 still a being significant factor in our day-to-day lives, I believe it really made us better as a team. It brought us closer to each other as brothers and taught us how to deal with adversity, which will only help us perform inside Homer Bryce Stadium and on the road this season.
With all of that being said, I'm really a chill guy off the field. My days consist of doing homework, working out, and playing video games.
The next step in my journey here at SFA is to lead our football team to our ultimate goal of becoming national champions. I believe that our team and this upcoming season is going to be very special one.
Axe'em!
