Ladyjacks Complete Comeback to Finish Series Sweep of Sam Houston, 11-8

SFA took the early lead in the top of the first in support of SFA starter Reagan Chism, as Shaylon Govan homered to right center to bring in Camryn Middlebrook and Bryana Novegil and open up a 3-0 lead. After being shutout in Friday's doubleheader, however, Sam Houston's offense retaliated quickly in the bottom of the frame, pushing four runs across to take a 4-3 lead.
After the Bearkats added a fifth run in the fourth to pull ahead 5-3, the Ladyjacks were able to tie it up at 5-5 on a two-run single by Camryn Middlebrook. The back and forth continued in the bottom of the sixth, as SHSU pulled ahead once again on a solo home run and two-run single to take an 8-5 lead.
Finally, the Ladyjacks retook the momentum for good in the top of the seventh inning, as RBI doubles from Marisa Arriaga, Amanda Carden and Middlebrook evened the lead at 8-8. After the game went to extra innings, SFA came to bat in the top of the eighth looking to finish the comeback. Gaby Garcia led off the frame with a single, followed by base knocks from Arriaga and Mackenze Bennett to load the bases. Lexi Benson then doubled to center field to score all three Ladyjacks for an 11-8 lead.
Kassidy Wilbur (28-3) earned the win in relief by pitching the final two innings. She gave up a hit and a walk but kept SHSU off the board, striking out three batters in the process. The win tied her for the most victories in a single season by a Ladyjack.
