AUSTIN, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks traveled to Austin Wednesday night for a showdown with the No. 4 Texas Longhorns (22-8, 7-2 Big 12), falling 9-1. The 'Jacks drop to 13-14, 9-7 SLC.
Texas scored a pair of runs in the first and second innings to jump out to a 4-0 edge, with the breakout offensive inning taking place in the fourth as Zach Zubia (HR) and Cam Williams (3 RBI HR) to extended the lead to 8-0.
The 'Jacks were able to put two runners on base in the third from Kyle Cullen and Skylar Black base hits, but were unable to convert the early offensive stanza into runs due to a double play to end the inning.
Cameron Crawford led off the eighth inning with a base hit up the middle followed by another to center field credited to Cullen to give SFA another chance at a tally on the board, as Cal Martin brought in the lone run for the 'Jacks with a RBI single down the left side. In the ninth, DJ Pritinsky closed the book with another homer for the Longhorns to claim the 9-1 victory.
