Lumberjack Soccer Places Eight on Southland All-Conference Teams

FRISCO, Texas -- The 2020 Southland All-Conference teams were released on Monday morning following the conclusion of the regular season, and the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin were represented by eight total selections among the three conference teams. SFA did not receive any of the conference superlative awards despite winning the conference regular season title after being picked to finish eighth in the league's preseason poll.
Representing SFA as First Team selections were forward Katelyn Termini and redshirt sophomore Jamie Jezierski, with the former making her second appearance on the All-Conference teams. Jezierski is a first-time honoree who earns top honors in her first season playing for the 'Jacks. While the 'Jacks didnt have anyone named to the Second Team, a handful of Lumberjacks earned spots on the league's Third Team. Making their first appearance on the All-Conference squads were Paige Kanipes, Caylon McMillan, Sophie Smith, Destiny Davis and Teia Haynes, while Madeline Talbot was a repeat honoree at the goalkeeper position.
Termini was a lock for First Team honors, netting four goals and six assists in league play while starting every contest throughout the league season. She came up with a goal or an assist in each of SFA's final three games, and ranks within the Top 10 in program history in career goals and assists. Jezierski earned her spot on the First Team as a defender after a campaign in which she was a staunch defender and started all 13 games, The Spring, Texas native also chipped in a goal and an assist for the 'Jacks.
Joining Jezierski in recognition on the defensive backline for SFA is Paige Kanipes, who started all 11 games for the 'Jacks and helped the squad post six shutouts during the regular season. Midfielders Caylon McMillan and Sophie Smith both earned All-Conference honors for their efforts on both sides of the ball for SFA, with both of them making 11 conference starts. Smith assisted on one goal for SFA, while McMillan dished out three helpers and scored the game-winning goal against Sam Houston in the regular season finale to secure SFA's regular season title.
Destiny Davis and Teia Haynes were selected to their first All-Conference accolades after coming on strong for SFA in the back half of the conference season. Davis tallied three goals and an assist for SFA in league play, while Haynes netted four of SFA's league scores by herself. Both appeared in all of SFA's league games, and made starts throughout the league slate as called upon.
A season removed from earning Second Team honors as a goalkeeper, Madeline Talbot was named Third Team in 2020 after posting an 8-4-1 record across 14 starts and posting a 1.05 GAA. The senior netminder made 55 saves and turned aside 80 percent of the shots she faced, including a clutch penalty shot save in SFA's regular season finale against Sam Houston to secure the regular season conference title.
