
Visscher, Johnson and Nugent Receive All-Southland Conference Honors

FRISCO, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (RV/NR) slated three spots on the All-Southland Conference selection list, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. Stephanie Visscher received First Team and All-Defensive Team Honors, accompanied by Aiyana Johnson and Zya Nugent making an appearance on the Second Team, respectively. Johnson was named an All-Defensive Teamer as well.
Stephanie Visscher (Jr., G, Lulea, Sweden)
First Team All-Southland Conference, All-Defensive Team
Visscher earned her place on the First Team by being one of the most decorated players in the conference this season, as she is the only player in the country shooting 60/50/90 (.603 FG%, .532 3PT%, .926 FT%) during conference play. She concluded the regular season on a high note, averaging 14.6 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.4 blocks per game over the span of 14 conference games. The junior guard leads the league in assist/turnover ratio (2.0) and 3-pt. field goal percentage, and holds the No. 3 spot in field goal percentage and steals per game (2.8). On the defensive end, she garnered 59 combined blocks and steals in conference contests. Visscher was a two-time Southland Conference Player of the Week.
Aiyana Johnson (Jr., F/C, Lee's Summit, Mo.)
Second Team All-Conference, All-Defensive Team
The second Ladyjack to receive All-Conference and All-Defensive accolades is Aiyana Johnson, who sets the tone for the SLC in field goal percentage (.638) and blocked shots (2.3bpg). Johnson totaled 10 double-digit scoring games in conference play, including three double-doubles. Not only is Johnson able to put the ball in the basket at a high rate (10.9ppg), but she has distributed 41 assists (2.9 apg) and has drawn 16 charges.
Zya Nugent (So., G, Denison, Tex.)
Second Team All-Southland Conference
To round out the trio, Nugent's skillset has been pivotal for the Ladyjack program, earning her a spot on the Second Team. Nugent is the 15th best scorer in the SLC (12.3ppg) shooting .421 from the field, boosted by posting at least 10 points in 10 of 14 conference games. She has dished out 31 assists and swiped 27 steals in regular season play, and is the No. 3 free throw shooter in the SLC (.849). Nugent tabbed Southland Conference Player of the Week once this season.
