Ladyjack Softball Closes Out Adam Brown Shamrock Memorial Classic win Win over Western Michigan, 6-2

CONWAY, AR --The SFA softball wrapped up play at the Adam Brown Shamrock Memorial Classic with a 6-2 win over Western Michigan on Sunday morning, capping off a 5-0 weekend for the Ladyjacks at the tournament. The victory moves SFA to 6-7 on the season and 5-0 in as many games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SFA got on the board early in the contest, as Camryn Middlebrook reached out a fielder's choice and came around to score on an RBI double by Gaby Garcia. One inning later, a single from Amanda Carden and a double from Bailey Richards set the table for an RBI single from Bryana Novegil, who drove in both to make the score 3-0.
In the fifth inning, the Ladyjacks struck again, as Amanda Carden got on base with a single and came around to score on a single by Novegil, who advanced to third on an error by the WMU left fielder. Novegil then scored an unearned run off of a Middlebrook single to shortstop, making the score 5-0 in the contest. Garcia drove in SFA's sixth and final run in the top of the 6th, scoring Novegil, who had singled to lead off the inning.
In the seventh inning, the Broncos would strike for two runs off of Lexi Benson, who had come in in relief of Kassidy Wilbur. Wilbur then returned to fan three more Bronco batters and close out the game. Wilbur's final line was seven shutout innings with four hits and one walk, while recording a total of seven strikeouts.
Novegil had a banner day at the plate. going 4-4 with two runs score and three runs batted in. Carden recorded three hits and scored twice, while recorded a pair of hits and drove in two runs.
