NACOGDOCHES, Texas --
SFA took on New Orleans Friday night for their first conference home series, but fell in a tight matchup against the Privateers, 6-4. After three complete innings, the Lumberjacks garnered a 3-1 lead, but the Privateers tallied three runs in the fifth inning to take a one-run advantage. SFA knotted the game back up at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth, but UNO struck again by scoring a run in the seventh and ninth for two more. The 'Jacks fall to 2-11, 0-5 SLC.
The Lumberjacks hopped on the board first with momentum from playing at their home field for the first time this season, with Skylar Black singling to left field for an RBI to bring in Cameron Crawford (1B) for a 1-0 lead after the first inning. In the top of the third, UNO tied the game 1-1 to give their first edge, only outdone by Black contributing another RBI to advance and score runners on the throw (Monacy and C. Dodge) for a 3-1 advantage. UNO's strong offensive fifth inning was critical in this ballgame, coming from a Privateer 2RBI double and a passed ball to charge in a few runs for the visitors to then edge the contest, 4-3. With the bases loaded during the sixth, a RBI hit-by-pitch at Crawford's at-bat resulted in the tying run for SFA, but the Privateers were able to string together two more runs in the final three innings to hold the 'Jacks, 6-4.
SFA will be back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Privateers. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m., and the second game is set for 6:00 p.m.
