Colonels Sweep Lumberjacks in Weekend Series, 4-0

THIBODAUX, Louisiana -- After playing three tight games against the Colonels this weekend, the fourth and final game trended in the same fashion, where SFA fell to Nicholls by one run, 2-1. The Colonels took this game with only three hits on the day to SFA's six, but the situational moments mattered most in this game. The Lumberjacks fall to 2-10, 0-4 in SLC play.
The second inning was crucial for both teams since each team threw a run on the board, while SFA was able to create first by a ground out RBI from Will Cerny to score Sean Moore (2B) for a 1-0 lead. Nicholls went without a hit in this inning, but scored off a series of walks and HBP's to bring in a run to tie it 1-1 after the second. The Lumberjacks put three on base in the top of the seventh with two outs to put themselves in the position to score, only to leave all three runners stranded. Nicholls stamped what would be the winning run on the board off an RBI fielder's choice to claim the victory, 3-1.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action next Friday for its first home series against New Orleans at 6:30 p.m.
