
Kensmil Nabs Southland Conference Player of the Week Honors

FRISCO, Texas -- Senior forward Gavin Kensmil has been named the Southland Conference Player of the Week for his performance against UNO on Monday week, per a release from the conference office on Monday. The Paramaribo, Suriname native is claiming his second weekly accolade of the 2020-21 season.
Kensmil poured in a career-high 28 points and grabbed ten rebounds on 65 percent shooting in a victory over New Orleans. He shot 11-17 from the field and hauled down seven offensive rebounds on the day, helping SFA battle back from a halftime deficit to earn the road victory. For the season, Kensmil ranks 10th in the league in scoring (14.8 ppg), seventh in rebounding (6.7 per game), and first in field goal percentage (64.2 percent).
Kensmil, a Preseason Southland All-Conference First Team selection, has led the 'Jacks to a 13-3 record overall and an 8-1 mark in conference play.
