Lumberjack Football Breaks into FCS StatsPerform Top 25 Poll Following Battle of the Piney Woods

CHICAGO, IL – SFA Football has broken into the Top 25 poll for FCS StatsPerform, per a national release on Monday morning. The Lumberjacks (3-2) got a huge boost thanks to their dominant effort in the Battle of the Piney Woods, wherein they held top-ranked Sam Houston State at bay for the majority of the game. SFA's effort and ability, even in a narrow loss, boosted the 'Jacks out of the receiving votes section of the poll and into the 23^rd spot. It is SFA's first ranking in the FCS StatsPerform poll since 2015.

SFA's strong showing in the game very nearly cost the Bearkats the top spot in the poll, as they held on by the slimmest of margins – one point – despite keeping their unblemished record.

Other rankings of note in the October 4 poll include SFA's next opponent, Jacksonville State, in the 24^th spot, while upcoming opponents Central Arkansas (35) and Eastern Kentucky (6) are in the receiving votes section.
