
SFA shoots 50% from deep, beats New Orleans 87-68

NEW ORLEANS, LA -- The SFA men's basketball team shot 50% from deep on the way to an 87-68 victory over the New Orleans Privateers on the road Saturday.
SFA's overall record moved to 13-2 and conference record improved to 4-0 with the win.
The 'Jacks had five players score in double figures, led by Kevon Harris, who had 21 points, six rebounds and two steals. Cameron Johnson added 14 points off the bench and Roti Ware helped out with 14 points.
SFA took advantage of great ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 16 assists on 33 made field goals. Individually, Oddyst Walker dished out the most for the 'Jacks with three assists.
The SFA defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 15 New Orleans turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 20 points on the other end of the floor. Nathan Bain led the way individually for the 'Jacks with two steals.

GAME SUMMARY
After falling behind 15-9, SFA went on a 15-0 run with 10:46 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Ware, to take a 24-15 lead. The 'Jacks then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 34-32 advantage. SFA capitalized on seven New Orleans turnovers in the period, turning them into 10 points on the other end of the floor.
Following intermission, SFA kept widening that lead, expanding it to 36-33 before going on an 11-0 run, finished off by Ware's three, to grow the lead to 47-33 with 15:54 to go in the contest. The 'Jacks kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 87-68 win. SFA took care of business in the paint, recording 32 of its 53 points in the lane.
