NACOGDOCHES, Texas- SFA began the 2019 campaign at Pecan Park where they finished at the top in both the men's and women's races. Head coach Cody Clark has anticipated this event because SFA, "rarely gets to run at home", and the Jacks finished to his liking. SFA ran against Northwestern State and a few unattached runners.
The men had the top four finishes in the event out of 17 total runners. Titus Kiplagat finished first with a time of 16:26.80. Finishing second was Yoel Yoel with a time of 16:33.64. Coming in third place behind the first two lumberjacks was Pedro Flores, timing in at 16:43.35. Finishing in the fourth spot was Maxwell Murphy who had a total time of 16:53.43. The fifth SFA runner, Ben Murphy, finished in ninth place, totaling seven points. The men finished with a total time of 1:23:54.20, good for an average time of 16:46.84 to round out the event.
The women kept the trend of top finishes by grabbing three of the top four spots out of 19 total runners in the 3,200-meter run. Coming in first was Madison Compass who finished at 11:56.29. Second was Meredith Clayton who totaled a time of 11:58.47. SFA finished fourth as well thanks to Megan Eichler's 12:20.96 finish totaling three points with an unattached runner coming in third. Other finishes were Alexis Antkowiak in sixth place at 12:37.40 with four points and Bailey Kinney in the eight spot at 12:44.36 with five points, as well as Samantha Roberts who finished 17th at 14:20.14 with 11 points. The women totaled 1:01:37.48 as their time and the average time was 12:19.50.
