Signee from The Woodlands brings SFA's incoming freshman class to five
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – SFA Soccer head coach Wally Crittenden continues to round out his roster for the upcoming season, adding Woodlands High School senior Lauren Toma to the mix for the upcoming 2019 season. Toma, a 5-4 defender, is the 36th ranked player in Texas according to Maxpreps.com, and the 166th ranked nationally. She will join the Ladyjacks as part of the 2019 signing class, bringing that group to six total signees.
"We are really excited to add Lauren to our fall roster", said Crittenden. "She has a tremendous playing background and really high competitive character. She is a player that values possession and is very smart in how she plays the game. With her technical ability and high end speed alongside her very high soccer IQ, I would expect to see Lauren at outside defender on either side or within our center midfield. There is no doubt she will bring great defending, creative high-level passing and dynamic movement wherever she finds herself on the field."
Toma is a four-year letterwinner at The Woodlands HS, where she guided her team to an 18-3-6 record and a berth in the 6A regional quarterfinals. She tallied 10 goals, 24 assists and 44 total points in her senior campaign, and tallied at least one point in 17 of the 25 games played. In total, she found the back of the net 27 times in her high school career and assisted on 59 other scores. Toma's accolades include an All-Region selection, a district offensive MVP, Academic all-state plaudits and recognition as her team's captain.
