Ljubic and Misak Win One Singles Set Each against Central Arkansas

SFA looks ahead to Sunday battle with Northwestern State
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Kaja Ljubic and Kyndall Misak each won a set in singles play but the SFA tennis team suffered a 7-0 shutout loss to Southland Conference foe Central Arkansas Friday afternoon at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
DOUBLES
• Things could have gone either way in the first and third doubles matches, but at the end it was Central Arkansas who made the right moves down the stretch to secure the point.
• Gabi Guilarte and Ljubic suffered a 6-4 loss to Chunxi Xin and Marli Van Heerdan on the top line while Misak and Nida Kamal dropped a 6-4 decision to QiLi Ma and Rada Manataweewat in the third flight.
• Darinka Tiboldi and Armelle Cerdan were defeated 6-1 by Mei Ishimura and Yada Vasupongchai in the second flight.
SINGLES
• Misak started her sixth-flight matchup against Ma with a 6-1 triumph, but Ma recovered to claim a three-set win by scoring wins of 6-4 and 6-2 in the second and third sets respectively.
• After dropping a 6-2 opening set in her number-four flight match to Ishimura, Ljubic knotted things with one set apiece with a 7-6 win in the second. Ishimura, however, won the match with a 10-6 victory in the third set.
• Guilarte won seven games in her top-flight singles match with Xin but fell 6-2, 7-5.
• Tiboldi was on the wrong end of a 6-2, 6-3 result against Fuka Nonoyama in the number-two flight.
• Cerdan took four games against Van Heerdan in a 6-1, 6-3 loss.
• Kamal came up short against Vasupongchai in the number five singles flight, falling by a 6-2, 6-0 score.
COMING UP NEXT
• The Ladyjacks are set to take part in their final home match of the 2019 campaign Sunday afternoon. At 1:00 p.m., SFA will do battle with Louisiana and Southland Conference rival Northwestern State. Ljubic, the team's lone senior, will be honored for her contributions to the team in a brief pre-match ceremony.
