SFA Concludes Spring Season by Hosting Six-Team Tournament

Ladyjacks welcome Louisiana Tech, Texas Southern, St. Edward’s, Lee College and Panola College to Nacogdoches
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In the midst of its final week of spring practice, the SFA volleyball team will wrap up its 2019 spring schedule by hosting a five-team tournament inside Shelton Gym Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Ladyjacks welcome Louisiana Tech, Texas Southern, St. Edward's, Lee College and Panola College to Nacogdoches for the dual-court tournament. Admission to Saturday's day-long tournament is free and a full schedule for the day can be found below.
Saturday's spring tournament is the third event the Ladyjacks are set to take part in this spring. SFA has scored spring season wins over TCU, Louisiana and UTSA en route to a 4-2 record in spring matches.
SFA is coming off a 2018 campaign in which they won the program's 10th Southland Conference regular season title in order to earn the top overall seed for the Southland Conference Tournament. The top-seeded Ladyjacks lost just one set in the Southland Conference Tournament and earned an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Volleyball Tournament by taking down Central Arkansas, 3-0, in the league's tournament title match.
In their first NCAA Tournament since 2006, the Ladyjacks headed to Austin, Texas, to tangle with fifth-ranked Texas in the opening round. SFA finished the year with a 32-3 record that included a nation-leading 29-match winning streak. Included in that winning streak was a perfect 16-0 run through the Ladyjacks' regular season Southland Conference schedule.
Included among the eight letterwinners who return for SFA for its 2019 campaign are reigning All-Southland Conference First Team choices Danae Daron and Ann Hollas as well as fellow seniors Corin Evans and Xariah Williams.
