Innis Captures Southland Conference Track Athlete of the Week Honors

SFA earns 12th SLC Athlete of the Week honor

FRISCO, Texas – Senior distance runner Brittany Innis has been named the Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, per a release from the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. The award is the first of the season for the Cedar Park native, and follows her stellar effort at the Mt. SAC relays over the weekend in Torrance, California.
Innis' recognition marks the 12thtime this year that an SFA Track and Field athlete has been recognized for one of the four weekly honors nominated and voted upon by the league's sports information directors. Innis finished 14thamong a very competitive field in the 3000m steeplechase on Saturday, breaking the school record in the event by over two seconds. Her time of 10:28.28 is the fastest mark in the Southland Conference this season by seven seconds, and ranks 33rdnationally.
Teammate Nastassja Campbell was the top honorable mention in the women's field athlete of the week awards after her clearance of 4.32m over the weekend in the pole vault, good for sixth in the NCAA.
