Seven Ladyjacks to bowl for a spot in the USBC’s Intercollegiate Singles Championships and Intercollegiate Team Championships
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – After enjoying a three-week break from competition, the SFA bowling team returns to action this weekend at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Sectionals. The Ladyjacks will take on the three-day event, held Friday-Sunday, March 8-10 at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee, competing in both the Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) sectional qualifier and the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) sectional qualifier.
Taking a break from NCAA play, seven SFA bowlers will be vying for a qualifying spot to go to the 2019 ISC, which features 24 women competing for an individual national title at the Poelking Lanes South in Dayton, Ohio, Monday-Friday, April 15-20. Ladyjack seniors Dakotah Hazlewood and Paige Beeney, will be joined by junior Megan Eaglehouse, sophomores Dakota Faichnie, Sarah Gill and Sarah Voiers, and freshman Carlene Beyer in the Volunteer State this weekend.
As a team, SFA will be bowling for one of four qualifying spots at the ITC Smyrna sectional tournament. The four teams who qualify will earn a berth into the 2019 ITC, which features the top 16 women's teams in the nation competing for a national title at the Poelking Lanes South in Dayton, Ohio, Wednesday-Saturday, April 17-20. Outside of the NCAA Bowling Championship, the USBC's ITC is the pinnacle event of the collegiate bowling season.
ISC women's sectional qualifying will take place Friday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m. CST with six individual games, while ITC sectional qualifying will begin Saturday, March 9 and wrap up Sunday, March 10. The Ladyjacks will bowl a total of 64 Baker games across the two days, rolling 32 games each day. Four, four-game Baker blocks will get started at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, before another set of 16 Baker games begin at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, SFA will bowl four, four-game Baker blocks starting at 7:45 a.m., prior to the sectional qualifier's final session of four, four-game Baker blocks concluding the tournament at 12:45 p.m.
SFA at the USBC Intercollegiate Sectionals
The Ladyjacks will be bowling for their eighth-straight appearance at the ITC after earning a berth into the national championship with a sectional qualifying spot each of the last seven years. SFA will also be looking to place one of its own in the USBC's individual national tournament for the fourth-straight season after four-time First-Team All-American Stephanie Schwartz ('18) qualified for the ISC the past three years.
Last Time on the Lanes
Hosting the fifth annual Stormin' Ladyjack Classic for the first time in Dallas (Feb. 15-17), the Ladyjacks finished fifth out of a highly-competitive 12-team field, which featured the nation's top five programs and a national ranking tied to each team. SFA went 8-5 at the event and knocked down 12,933 pins as Beyer became the third Ladyjack bowler to earn MVP honors at a tournament this season. She averaged a 214.83 score in six traditional team games, totaling 1,289 pins, and finished as the top individual among 73 total bowlers.

The Ladyjacks will step back into NCAA action next weekend and wrap up the 2019 regular season at Vanderbilt's Columbia 300 Music City Classic, which will also be held at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee, Friday-Sunday, March 15-17.
