SLC Champion Ladyjacks Place 11 Individuals and Pair of Relays on All-Conference Teams

Southland All-Conference Teams Release
FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference released the 2019 Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year and All-Conference teams in a release on Tuesday afternoon, and the newly crowned indoor champion squad of SFA was well represented. The 'Jacks placed 11 individuals and two relays on All-Conference Teams, per the release. Additionally, Nastassja Campbell was named the conference's Women's Freshman of the Year and head coach Phil Olson was named Women's Coach of the Year for his efforts in leading SFA to its ninth indoor title on the women's side.
All-Conference Teams are determined by one's finish at the conference meet. First-place finishers in any individual event are selected to the First Team, runners-up are named Second Team selections, and third-place finishers earn Third Team honors. Superlative awards such as those earned by Olson and Campbell are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches, with voting for oneself or one's own athletes not permitted.
First Team All-Conference selections for the Ladyjacks are as follows: Imani Nave (400m), Madison Compass (800m), Kelsey Ramirez (Mile), Brittany Innis (3000m), Nastassja Campbell (Pole Vault) and the women's distance medley relay (LaSean Davis, Allison Compass, Madison Compass, Kelsey Ramirez).
Second Team All-Conference selections were: Brittany Innis (5000m), Jillian Turner (60m Hurdles), Kaylee Bizzell (Pole Vault).
Third Team All-Conference honorees included: Imani Nave (200m), LaSean Davis (800m), Kelsey Ramirez (3000m) and the women's 4x400 relay team (Dominique Jackson, Aaliyah Teel, Madison Compass, Imani Nave).
Nastassja Campbell entered her first indoor championship meet without missing a beat, capturing first-place in the pole vault event with a meet-record vault of 14-0.9. The freshman will continue her season at the NCAA Indoor Championships later this week in the pole vault, having qualified for the national event earlier this season at the Ted Nelson Invitational where she logged a 14-4.75 vault. Campbell becomes the sixth Ladyjack to capture the Freshman of the Year accolade since its inception in 2007, and her selection marks the third straight season in which SFA has had the women's FoY (Nave 2017, Ramirez 2018).
For Olson, a 20-year vet at the helm of SFA, the Coach of the Year accolade is his 24thoverall and 17th with the women's team. Olson has won women's Coach of the Year a total of seven times since 2009 and nine times since 2005.
SFA's dominant victory in the Southland Conference Indoor championships included a whopping two-day total of 141 points, 56 points higher than the runner-up Northwestern State. The Ladyjacks registered 13 podium finishers in total, capturing five individual championships.
