Spring Football to Get Underway March 25, Spring Game Set for Saturday, April 27

‘Jacks to host 15 total spring football practices between Monday, March 25 and Saturday, April 27
NACOGDOCHES – The Lumberjack football team's 2019 spring practice schedule has been set as SFA will begin its on-field spring training Monday, March 25. The 'Jacks will host a total of 15 spring practices between March 25 and Saturday, April 27 with SFA's 2019 Spring Game to take place inside Homer Bryce Stadium at 5 p.m. on April 27.
For the first time since the fall, SFA football fans and supporters of the program will have the chance to see the 'Jacks in action as first-year head coach Colby Carthel begins to lay the team's foundation in preparation for the 2019 season. The coach Carthel era at SFA and the building of a championship program has already gained national attention with the Lumberjacks' signing the third-best FCS class in the nation and the top in the Southland Conference across the two signing periods in December and February. The 'Jacks received signed National Letters of Intent (NLI's) from an impressive 10 three-star recruits, ranking SFA's 2019 class ahead of a plethora of FCS powerhouses and several FBS programs.
Hosting its lone back-to-back practices of the spring Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26, the 'Jacks will start spring football with a pair of non-contact on-field workouts in helmets, jerseys and shorts. SFA will practice each Tuesday and Thursday during the five-week period while hosting practices for three consecutive Saturdays on March 30, April 6 and April 13. The Lumberjacks' final spring football practice is set to take place Thursday, April 25 with a third non-contact workout in helmets without pads. SFA's annual Spring Game Saturday, April 27 will culminate spring football for the 'Jacks.
With 50 total returning letter winners in 2019, including 19 starters coming back, SFA welcomes a total of 35 newcomers to its roster for this fall.
