Last Time on the Links
SFA began it's spring championship season two weeks ago at the Texas State Invitational (Feb. 11-12) on the Plum Creek Golf Club course in Kyle, Texas, shooting its two lowest rounds of 2018-19 thus far. The Ladyjacks carded a 14-over 298 in the opening round and a 15-over 299 on the second 18 holes of play, before rising a spot in the team standings during the final round. Posting a 12th-place finish among 16 total teams, SFA recorded a three-round total of 57-over 909. Jumping fellow league member Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the final round, the Ladyjacks finished ahead of a pair of Sun Belt Conference programs in Arkansas-Little Rock and UT Arlington. After carding a season-best 1-under 70 in the opening round, Batista climbed eight spots on the individual leaderboard in the third round by shooting a 3-over 74 to tie for 21st among 84 total golfers with a career-low three-round total of 7-over 220, which is the second-lowest 54-hole score of any Ladyjack this season. Likewise, Jorgensen turned in a career-best three-round score of 11-over 224, notching a 6-over 77 on the final 18 holes of play to tie for 31st.
Last Time in Corpus Christi
After a four-year hiatus, SFA returns to Corpus Christi for the Islander Classic as the Ladyjacks will be making their seventh appearance at the annual tournament. SFA's best result at the Islander Classic came during its last visit to Corpus Christi in 2015 when the Ladyjacks finished fourth in a 16-team tournament field. Shooting a 50-over 626 in the then two-round event, which tied for the fifth-lowest two-round score by SFA in program history, the Ladyjacks saw Lautensack share the individual title by tying for first place among 85 total golfers. She notched a 7-over 151 across the two rounds, tying the sixth-lowest two-round score by a SFA golfer en route to becoming the first Ladyjack to capture multiple tournament titles.
