HOUSTON, TX -- Aiyana Johnson and Stephanie Visscher both recorded double-doubles to help lead the SFA women's basketball team over the Houston Baptist Huskies 59-42 on the road Wednesday.
SFA moved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in play following the victory.
The double-doubles by Johnson, who had 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Visscher, who had 12 points and 12 rebounds, led the Ladyjacks in the contest. Riley Harvey helped out with 11 points.
SFA out-rebounded Houston Baptist 47-32 in Wednesday's game, led by Johnson's 13 boards. The Ladyjacks also grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and scored 16 second chance points.
SFA's defense held Houston Baptist to only 25.9% shooting from the field. The Ladyjacks also limited Megan Valdez-Crader to 3-of-13 shooting in the game.

GAME SUMMARY
After jumping out to a 13-8 advantage, SFA went on a 7-0 run with 3:58 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Johnson, to increase its lead to 20-8. The Ladyjacks then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 24-15 advantage. SFA did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring 18 of its 24 points close to the basket.
The Ladyjacks used the second period to increase their lead and entered halftime with a 36-22 edge. SFA dominated in the paint, scoring 10 of its 12 points close to the basket.
SFA continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on an 8-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Johnson, to expand its lead further to 48-28 with 4:02 to go in the third. Before the third period was over, the Ladyjacks added two points to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 51-29 edge. SFA played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 15 points in the paint.
The Ladyjacks then held on for the victory in the fourth quarter. SFA took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring four of its eight points in the paint.
