Senior netminder carries 4.0 GPA in secondary education
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - For the first time in her collegiate career, SFA soccer senior goalkeeper Allyson Halliday found herself on the receiving end of 2019 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Second Team honors as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hailing from Spring, Texas, Halliday carries a perfect 4.0 GPA in secondary education and was one of four Southland Conference players to secure a spot on an Academic All-District Team. It marks the third-consecutive season in which a Ladyjacks has collected Academic All-District laurels from CoSIDA as Carli Arthurs received All-District nods in both 2018 and 2017.
SFA's primary backstop, Halliday worked her way into 15 games and made 11 starts through her final season in a Ladyjack uniform. She compiled an overall record of 5-9 with a 1.88 goals against average and helped her squad pick up Southland Conference wins over both Houston Baptist and Nicholls to ensure the Ladyjacks made the cut for the Southland Conference Tournament.
In all, Halliday totaled 55 stops and ended her season with a save percentage of .714.
Halliday and the rest of the Ladyjacks wrapped up their 2019 season last week in Conway, Ark., at the Southland Conference Tournament where they fell 6-2 in the quarterfinal round to eventual tournament champion Lamar.
