
Chapman Promoted to Assistant Coach for SFA Soccer

Chapman served as volunteer coach for Ladyjacks in 2018 campaign
NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- SFA soccer head coach Wally Crittenden filled the open position on his staff on Tuesday afternoon, promoting Chance Chapman to an assistant coach role, effective immediately. Chapman begins his second season with the SFA soccer team in 2019 as an assistant coach after spending one season as a volunteer assistant coach in 2018. In Chapman's first season with the team, the Ladyjacks made its annual run to the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament, this time knocking off two higher seeded teams along the way.
"I have gotten to know Chance over the last couple of years and am very excited to name him Assistant Coach after spending the last season as our volunteer coach. When looking for qualities important in hiring this position such as a great playing background, dynamic charisma, great recruiting acumen and really high character, it became clear that Chance was the right fit for our staff and team. Along with Chance, we extend a very special welcome to Marissa and their 1 year old twin daughters Skylar and Violet to our Ladyjack Soccer family.
Prior to joining SFA, Chapman served as the head coach of the boy's soccer team at Nacogdoches ISD, where he guided the Dragons to a 47-29-11 record in four seasons at the helm. Additionally, Chapman guided his squads to a pair of District championships in 2015-16 and 2016-17, three area championships from 2015-18, and has never finished lower than second in the district race with the Dragons. To begin his coaching career, Chapman took up coached within the Dallas Texans Soccer Club organization, serving as the goalkeepers coach there from 2002-2006. In recent years, Chapman served as the head coach for Angelina F.C, a soccer club that helped place seven players into college soccer programs during his four-year stay there from 2009-13. Most recently, Chapman has coached the with Texas Pines Soccer Club from 2016 to the present, and is currently the coach for the '09 and '05 boy's squads.
Prior to his coaching days, Chapman was a four-year player at Northwood University, where he was named Red River Conference Goalkeeper of the Year in 2002 and guided his team to a conference championship and runner-up finish in the conference tournament. Following college, Chance spent time in Europe as a contracted trialist at VFL Bochum and Rottweiss in the German 2nd Divisions.
A native of Lufkin, Texas, Chapman earned a bachelors degree in Entertainment and Sports Management from Northwood in 2006, and owns a USSF "D" License. He lives in Nacogdoches with his fiance, Marissa, and a pair of twin daughters, Skyler and Violet.
