SFA bowling goes 4-1 in opening five Baker matches, Ladyjacks tally 5,180 pins on day one in Pennsylvania
LIMERICK, Pa. – A mere 16 pins separate the SFA bowling team and the top place in the 2019 Kutztown Invitational standings following day one of the three-day event hosted by Kutztown University at Limerick Bowl in Limerick, Pennsylvania. The Ladyjacks out-bowled four opponents in Baker matches Friday and knocked down 5,180 total pins to sit in second place among a 28-team tournament field.
Competing amongst 20 of the nation's top 25 teams according to the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, SFA earned a pair of victories over two of the country's best and defeated both St. Francis College (N.Y.) and Morgan State on the opening day of play. Tallying over 1,000 pins in each of the five matches, the Ladyjacks got off to a hot start by earning a 1,002-936 win over 23rd-ranked Duquesne. Highlighted by a 246 game five, SFA claimed more pins than Duquesne three out of the five games in the match.

A high-level match, both teams rolled games over 200 in the final four stanzas with the Ladyjacks claiming game two by a count of 244-231. SFA notched its second top-25 triumph with a 1,021-886 defeat of 16th-ranked Sacred Heart. Despite being out-bowled 200-146 in the first game of the match, the Ladyjacks rolled a head-turning 269 in game four en route to taking the final four games of the contest.
Across its following two matches, SFA outdid its opponents in nine of 10 games as the Ladyjacks cruised to a 1,098-887 win over St. Francis College (N.Y.) and a 1,023-829 victory over Morgan State. SFA recorded games of 256 and 255 against St. Francis College (N.Y.) and had two games of 213 and a 233 game versus Morgan State, registering seven 200-pin games in its last two match wins.

Seventh-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson went a perfect 5-0 Friday and owns the tournament lead with a pinfall total of 5,196.
