SFA's head coaches head to Houston to participate in league's second annual event
FRISCO, Texas - With just over one month before the 2018-19 college basketball season begins, media personnel from around the state and region will have the opportunity to meet with SFA head men's and women's basketball coaches Kyle Keller and Mark Kellogg at the Southland Conference Basketball Social Media Day which has been set for Wednesday, Oct. 10 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
The announcement for the league's basketball social media day came via press release issued Monday afternoon. Things are set to get going at 9:00 a.m. with remarks from Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett. From there, each men's and women's basketball coach from the Southland Conference's 13 member institutions will be in attendance and will take the podium in 25-minute increments beginning with Keller and Kellogg at 9:15 a.m. Results of the coaches' and SID's predicted order of finish for each the conference races will also be unveiled during the event.
Keller and Kellogg's time on the podium inside the Houston Rockets' visitors' locker room is scheduled to go from 9:15-9:40 a.m. where they will field questions from Southland Conference correspondents Lincoln Rose (men's basketball) and Carley McCord (women's basketball).
On the men's side, Keller is set to begin his third season in charge of the Lumberjacks and has racked up 46 wins through his first two seasons in Nacogdoches. That win total is the second-highest in all of NCAA Division I men's basketball when stacked up against all other head coaches who are entering their third year as a head coach at their respective institutions. Last season, SFA established six new single-season record and led the nation in steals (361), steals per game (10.3) and turnovers forced per game (19.77) to punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
The 2018-19 campaign marks Kellogg's fourth year in charge of the Ladyjacks and he has done a superb job in upholding the tradition of excellence that has long been a hallmark of one of the nation's most storied programs. Last season, Kellogg led his squad to the finals of the Southland Conference Tournament for the second-straight year and the squad finished with 25 wins for the second time in as many seasons while earning an at-large berth in the WNIT.
In addition to the sit-downs with Rose and McCord as well as time for one-on-one interviews, other activities for the day include social media activities.
