‘Jacks take on two-day, 13-team tournament for second event of the season
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – After a hot start to the 2018-19 season last weekend at the Golfweek Program Challenge in South Carolina, the Stephen F. Austin men's golf team returns to the links for competition Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 17-18 for the 16th Annual Sam Hall Intercollegiate. Hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the tournament is one of five the Lumberjacks compete in this fall and the second of three in the month of September.

The Sam Hall Intercollegiate is a two-day, 54-hole event with the first two rounds played on Monday, Sept. 17 and the final 18 holes taking place Tuesday, Sept. 18. In addition to tournament host Southern Miss from Conference USA, four other Southland Conference men's golf teams will converge in Hattiesburg. Bowling Green from the Mid-American Conference, Florida Gulf Coast from the Atlantic Sun Conference, Mercer and Samford from the Southern Conference, Winthrop from the Big South Conference, Missouri State from the Missouri Valley Conference and Troy from the Sun Belt Conference complete the 13-team tournament field.
The Lineup
Seniors Angelo Leyvani and Jake Hendrix will lead a talented starting lineup for the 'Jacks this week. The duo will be joined by sophomore Steven Fabik and freshmen Isiah Henderson and Jacob Garcia for SFA's starting five golfers. Garcia, along with freshman Johannes Gudmundsson who will be competing as an individual, will both be making their collegiate debuts. Gudmundsson, a native of Reykjavik, Iceland, begins his Lumberjack career after a successful amateur golf career and student at the Commercial College of Iceland. Fellow freshman Trent Lutze will also be competing as an individual at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
