Women’s Golf Improves Score by Six Strokes, Completes Play at Golfweek Program Challenge

Ladyjacks hold steady with 11th-place finish, card an 18-over 302 in Tuesday morning’s final round
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team completed its second tournament of the fall non-championship season Tuesday morning by improving its score by six strokes in the third round of the Golfweek Program Challenge on Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The Ladyjacks shot an 18-over 302 for the final round to finish in 11th place with a three-day tally of 70-over 922.
Senior Erica Lautensack nearly had her second-straight top-10 finish of the season, tying for 11th after registering a 3-over 74 at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club Tuesday morning. She posted a 4-over 217 across the three rounds, while fellow senior Jamee Jorgensen improved her second-round score by five strokes in round three. Jorgensen carded a 4-over 75 on the par-71, 5,904-yard course to tie for 49th with a three-day total of 21-over 234.
Right behind Jorgensen was junior Alexandra Batista, who shot a 7-over 78 during Tuesday morning's final round and tied for 54th with a three-round tally of 23-over 236. Sophomore Alexis Szewczyk improved her Monday score by two strokes, recording a 9-over 80 in round three and tying for 59th with a cumulative score of 27-over 240. Sophomore Kelly Yang rounded out SFA's competitors by shaving 14 strokes off of her second round and carding a 4-over 75 Tuesday morning to finish with a three-day total of 34-over 247.
Campbell captured the team title with an 18-under 834 score after posting a 10-under 274 final round. Old Dominion took home runner-up honors with a 54-hole total of 12-under 840, while Delaware (34-over 886) finished third.
Isabell Ekstrom shot a 3-under 68 in the third round and claimed the individual title with a cumulative score of 11-under 202. Old Dominion's Jana Melichova went 1-under 70 Tuesday morning and earned a second-place finish with an 8-under 205. Individual competitor Anna Svanka of Campbell carded a 4-under 67 for the final round and placed third with a 6-under 207.

The Ladyjacks will now have a three week break before returning to the links for competition, heading to Magnolia, Texas, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 1-2 for Sam Houston State's Bearkat Invitational held at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club.
