Former Ladyjacks star signs second professional contract
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Former Ladyjack basketball standout Taylor Ross took the next step in her professional career this week, signing a contract to play for ZKK Vrbas Medela of the Serbian League One. Ross had previously been a member of SBS Ostrava in the Czech Republic during the 2017-18 season.
"We are thrilled that Taylor has another opportunity to play professional basketball in Serbia", said SFA head coach Mark Kellogg. "She went from a lightly recruited player in high school to one of the best Ladyjacks to ever put on a uniform. She was instrumental to us and our program and hopefully she will carry that over to her professional career. We are extremely proud of Taylor and excited to follow her success."
A four-year letterwinner for the Ladyjacks, Ross piled up a fair share of accolades during her time in Nacogdoches. She accumulated 1,760 points in her career to finish eighth all-time at Stephen F. Austin in career scoring, ranks third in steals, sixth in total assists, second in made free throws and holds the mark for most free throw attempts in program history. Ross' senior season was also one for the record books, as she led the Southland Conference in scoring at 19.2 points per game and was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year.
During her four-year career, Ross helped the Ladyjacks accumulate an 89-37 record (.706), a pair of conference regular season championships and two conference tournament berths. A two-time All-Southland First Team selection, Ross was also named to the All-Defensive Team and All-Tournament Team during the 2016-17 campaign.
