Ladyjacks to take on South Alabama in opening round of four-team challenge, close out regular season
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – With the 2018 Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship a mere eight days away, the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team will have one final tune-up Monday, April 9 at the Lamar Cardinal Match Play Challenge. The Ladyjacks will wrap up the regular season of 2017-18 at the Beaumont Country Club in Beaumont, Texas, taking on the four-team match play event after a near two-week break from competition.
SFA is set to face the Jaguars of South Alabama in the morning's first round as host Lamar will take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The two winners of the morning's round will play an additional 18 holes in the afternoon for the championship match, while the losing teams of the first round will tee off for a consolation matchup.
The one-day, 36-hole event will be played on a par-71, 5,942-yard course with the four teams teeing off from hole No. 1 at approximately 7:45 a.m. Monday morning.
The Ladyjacks' lineup will consist of senior redshirt junior Erica Lautensack (Arlington, Texas) at the top spot, followed by sophomore Alexandra Batista (Trophy Club, Texas), redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen (Boerne, Texas), sophomore Paola Cortes (Allen, Texas) and freshman Alexis Szewczyk (McKinney, Texas). Each teams' five golfers will tee off in reverse order starting with their No. 5. Szewczyk will tee off first for SFA, followed by Cortes, Jorgensen, Batista and then Lautensack.
