Women’s Golf Wraps up 2017-18 Season at Southland Championship

Ladyjacks finish eighth in league championship with a three-round score of 101-over 953, Erica Lautensack notches 11th-place showing
MONTGOMERY, Texas – The 2017-18 season for the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team came to a close Wednesday afternoon at the 2018 Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship as the Ladyjacks completed the third and final round of the league championship. Held at the Woodforest Golf Club in Montgomery, Texas, over the last three days, SFA improved its second-round score by 11 strokes during Wednesday morning's third round and shot a 28-over 312. Finishing eighth, the Ladyjacks totaled a three-round tally of 101-over 953 across the three days.
Houston Baptist claimed its second consecutive Southland title by nine strokes, finishing with a three-day total of 46-over 898. Central Arkansas took home runner-up honors with a 55-over 907 final score, while Sam Houston State placed third with a 64-over 916.
Redshirt junior Erica Lautensack was SFA's top finisher at the championship, finishing 11th among 40 total golfers with a three-round total of 17-over 230 after recording a 7-over 78 in the final round. Sophomore Alexandra Batista tied for 21st after registering an 8-over 79 Wednesday to finish with a final score of 23-over 236.
Redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen shot a 6-over 77 during the third round and tied for 35th with a three-day tally of 31-over 244. Improving her second-round score by eight strokes, sophomore Paola Cortes collected a 7-over 78 on the final 18 holes of play to finish 38th with a 33-over 246. Freshman Alexis Szewczyk rounded out the Ladyjacks by shooting an 8-over 79 Wednesday and placing 40th with a three-round score of 35-over 248.
HBU's Kaity Cummings won the individual title after tallying a 1-under 70 in the third round and finishing with a 7-over 220. The Bearkats' Hannah Alberto was two strokes off of the lead and claimed runner-up honors with a three-day total of 9-over 222, while Central Arkansas' Fernanda Lira shot a 10-over 223 over the three rounds to place third.
