
SFA Men Take Second, Women Eighth at Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – In its first true scored meet of the outdoor season, the Stephen F. Austin track and field team saw the men place second at the Longhorn Invitational with a score of 75.50, while the Ladyjacks placed eighth with a score of 35.50. The two-day event wrapped up on Saturday, with host Texas prevailing in both the men and the women's side.
In the men's 100m dash, Jared Love took fifth among collegiates with a time of 10.71, while Kerry Gleason (14.23) placed third in the 110 meter high hurdles. Kadrienne Sanders would take sixth among collegiate with a time of 1:01.92 in the women's 400m hurdles, while Gleason placed second in the event on the men's side (51.89).
A 1-2-3 finish in the 800m run for the Ladyjacks was a major boost for the team, as Shania Ford (2:15.03), Madison Compass (2:15.95) and Allison Compass (2:16.29) rounded out the top three finishes in the event.
In the women's 4x100 meter relay, Stephen F. Austin's "A" team of Meghan Bell, Camille Singleton, Imani Nave and Aaliyah Teel placed fifth with a mark of 46.64, while the men's squad of Khalil Lacy, Jake Rippy, Love and Aaron Piper took third with a time of 40.38. Similarly, the 4x400 relay team of Gleason, Payton Davis, Drake Murphy and Tedrick Hawkins placed second with a time of 3:12.82, and the women's team of Dominique Jackson, Singleton, Sanders and Nave took third with a time of 3:42.99.
In the men's triple jump, Denzel Green had another great effort, setting a new triple jump with a distance of 15.03m (49-3.75), while Isaiah Pittman came in sixth in the event with a mark of 13.99m (45-10.75). The women's pole vault featured third and fifth place finishes from Kaylee Bizzell (4.01m – 13-01.75) and Dakota Mayr (3.86m-12-08.00), respectively. In the men's vault, Chad Horstmann would take fifth with a mark of 5.00m (16-04.75), followed by Carter Scott in sixth (4.90m (16-00.75).
Trenton Bridges would place fifth in the discus throw with a distance of 52.09m (170-11) for the throwers, while Mahlon Dawson and Kadejah Wilson placed eighth in the women's high jump with a height of 1.63m (5-04.25). Noah Berney took third in the event by clearing 2.02m (6-07.50)
Next up for SFA is a split-team venture, with some athletes traveling to Torrance, California to take place in the Mt. Sac Relays and the remainder taking part in the Michael Johnson Invitational, hosted by Baylor.
