
Arthurs and Fondren Selected to Southland Conference All-Academic Teams

SFA places two on SLC All-Academic Teams
Full Southland Conference All-Academic Team Release
FRISCO, Texas – Two members of the SFA soccer team were honored as part of the 2018 Southland Conference All-Academic Teams per a release from the conference office on Thursday. Junior Carli Arthurs and sophomore Sophia Fondren received First and Second Team honors, respectively, in joining 20 other athletes on the conference All-Academic teams.
For Arthurs, the placard is the second of her career, having been named a First Team honoree last season as well. The award comes just hours after receipt of her second consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-American award, with Arthurs being the lone Southland Conference representative on the national award teams.
Having started all 58 games of her SFA career, the Lewisville, Texas native exemplifies the term student-athlete with her play on the pitch as well as in the classroom. Arthurs carries a flawless 4.00 GPA as a mathematics major, and is a six-time Southland Commissioner's honor roll recipient.
Fondren makes her first appearance on the conference All-Academic team as a Second Team selection. The Frisco, Texas native led SFA in points in the 2018 season posting four goals and three assists to finish with 11 points overall. She started all 19 games in the midfield and was named a Southland All-Conference Second Team selection for her play this season. A two-time Southland Commissioners honor roll selection, Fondren carries a 3.90 GPA as a Kinesiology major.
