Flower Mound, Texas, native Dishman first women’s golf signee of 2019 class
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Head coach Trey Schroeder announced the signing of Flower Mound, Texas, native Kate Dishman to the SFA women's golf program for its 2019 class Friday morning. A Flower Mound High School product, Dishman will make an immediate impact for the Ladyjacks as the first women's golf signee of the 2019 class.
"We are very excited that Kate is joining our Ladyjack family," coach Schroeder said. "She is very competitive and the self-drive to be great is palpable. We love her work ethic and her demeanor on and off the course."
Dishman, who was named team MVP as a freshman in 2015-16, led the Jaguars to an undefeated fall season as a sophomore in 2016 before helping Flower Mound to a third-place team finish at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) district tournament. Her junior year, Dishman was a member of the Jaguar girls' golf team that took home runner-up honors at the UIL district tournament and qualified for regionals.
In August, Dishman placed second at the Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) Trophy Club Back to School Classic, shooting an 8-over 152 across two rounds. Held on the Whitworth course, Dishman turned in back-to-back 4-over 76 score cards. She also placed fifth at the TJGT The Woodlands Championship and tied for fifth at the TJGT Old American Elite over the summer after tying for fourth at both the TJGT Bridlewood Summer Kickoff in May and the Tierra Verde Regional Preview in March.
The Ladyjacks completed their fall schedule the last week of October and will have the rest of the fall and winter off from tournament play before returning to the links for competition this spring. The Texas State Invitational will kick off SFA's spring championship season Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 11-12 at the Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, Texas.
