Ladyjacks Close Out Fall Play with Final Round of Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic

SFA finishes 19 strokes ahead of McNeese after shooting 28-over 316 in third round, junior Alexandra Batista climbs 15 spots in final individual standings
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – In its final tournament of the fall season, the SFA women's golf team closed out the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, with the third round of play Tuesday. The Ladyjacks finished 19 strokes ahead of fellow Southland Conference member McNeese after carding a 28-over 316 on the final 18 holes of the three-day, 54-hole tournament held at the Diamante Country Club.
Junior Alexandra Batista climbed 15 spots in the individual standings by shooting a 4-over 76 in round three to tie for 46th among 95 total golfers with a three-round total of 19-over 235. Senior Erica Lautensack held steady in a tie for 61st after turning in a third-round score of 7-over 79 and finishing with a 22-over 238 tally.
For the third consecutive round, junior Paola Cortes posted an 8-over 80 on the par-72, 6,076-yard course to tie for 68th with a three-day score of 24-over 240. Freshman Zayda Cedillo claimed her second-straight 9-over 81 Tuesday afternoon as she completed the tournament with a 29-over 245, while sophomore Kelly Yang rounded out SFA's lineup with a cumulative 35-over 251.
Western Kentucky's Megan Clarke claimed the individual title with a three-round score of 4-under 212 as Missouri State's Rachel Johnson (2-under 214) finished two strokes off the pace for runner-up honors. Emelie Blennow of tournament host Little Rock placed third with a 1-over 217.
Conference counterpart Central Arkansas rose from sixth to first Tuesday by shooting a 3-over 291 as a team and capturing the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic crown with a three-day tally of 33-over 897. Missouri State (36-over 900) collected a runner-up finish, while UTEP (38-over 902) leaped two spots to gather third place.

The Ladyjacks will have the rest of the fall and the winter off from tournament play before returning to the links for competition this spring. The Texas State Invitational will kick off SFA's spring championship season Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 11-12 at the Plum Creek Golf in Kyle, Texas.
