
SFA Racks Up Five Singles Wins at Texas State Play Day

Guilarte goes 2-0 in singles action
SAN MARCOS, Texas - Junior SFA tennis player Gabi Guilarte posted two of the Ladyjacks' five singles victories at the Texas State Play Day held at the Bobcat Tennis Center Saturday afternoon. The Play Day represented SFA's final competition of the fall season.
Host Texas State welcomed Prairie View A&M, SFA and Trinity to San Marcos for the day.
Guilarte bested Prairie View A&M's Neharika Rama 6-1, 6-1 before completing her 2-0 day with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Trinity's Zoe Kaffen.
In her only singles tilt of the day, Darinka Tiboldi posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Texas State's Joy Chia Ming Ming while Kaja Ljubic outscored Prairie View A&M's Constanza Aranguiz 10-4 in the third to obtain a 6-2, 1-6, 10-4 win. That victory helped the senior go 1-1 on the afternoon after opening the day with a tough 6-4, 6-4 loss to Texas State's Juila Navajo-Melendez.
Armelle Cerdan captured SFA's fifth singles win, scoring a 6-3, 6-4 win against Texas State's Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez. Cerdan finished 1-1 in singles play on the day while Vera Carvalho went 0-2.
With Saturday's results, the Ladyjacks' fall season is complete. SFA turns its attention to its championship season which will begin on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 when the Ladyjacks travel to Alcorn, Miss., to do battle against SWAC adversary Alcorn State.
