Ladyjacks Wrap up Play at UT Arlington Invitational

Juniors Paola Cortes and Alexandra Batista lead women’s golf with top-25 finishes
MANSFIELD, Texas – Juniors Paola Cortes and Alexandra Batista both claimed top-25 finishes to lead the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team Tuesday afternoon at the UT Arlington Invitational in Mansfield, Texas. Cortes shot a 19-over 232 at the two-day, 54-hole tournament to place 23rd among 49 total golfers, while Batista, who competed as an individual, tied for 24th with a three-round total of 21-over 234.
The Ladyjacks closed out the seven-team tournament at Walnut Creek Country Club with a three-day team total of 92-over 944 after turning in a score of 19-over 303 in Monday's second round. South Alabama climbed back to capture the UT Arlington Invitational title with a 38-over 890, while Arkansas State (46-over 898) took home runner-up honors eight strokes off the lead and Southern Utah (53-over 905) placed third.
Sophomore Kelly Yang tied for 26th after improving her score each round, shooting a 4-over 75 on the par-71, 6,015-yard course in Tuesday's final round to own a 22-over 235. Freshman Zayda Cedillo, who made her debut in SFA's lineup, carded a 5-over 76 on the last 18 holes of play to place 31st with a 25-over 238.
Senior Erica Lautensack (28-over 241) tied for 33rd as sophomore individual competitor Alexis Szewczyk (32-over 245) tied for 39th. Senior Jamee Jorgensen (34-over 247) rounded out the Ladyjacks 41st.
Sam Houston State's Jenna Phillips, who played as an individual, earned the individual title with a cumulative score of 2-over 215. South Alabama's Siti Shaari (4-over 217) finished as a two-stroke runner-up, while Southern Utah's Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan and Sam Houston State's Hannah Alberto, also an individual competitor, tied for third at 6-over 219.
