MAGNOLIA, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team improved its score by three strokes during Tuesday's third and final round at fellow Southland Conference member Sam Houston State's Bearkat Invitational as senior Erica Lautensack posted her third consecutive top-15 finish. The Ladyjacks (64-over 928) shot a 21-over 309 on the final 18 holes of play to hold onto eighth-place at the two-day, 54-hole tournament held at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas.

Lautensack tied for 10th among 75 total golfers, carding a 3-over 75 on the par-72, 6,164-yard course Tuesday morning and finishing with a three-round total of 8-over 224. She finished 11 strokes off of individual champion Kaity Cummings of Houston Baptist, who turned in a final score of 3-under 213. Sam Houston State's Hannah Alberto and Lamar's Eva Martinez tied for second place two strokes off the lead with 1-under 215 totals.

Sophomore Alexis Szewczyk (18-over 234) posted a 5-over 77 in the final round to tie for 31st, while junior Alexandra Batista (20-over 236) placed 36th. Fellow sophomore Kelly Yang (25-over 241) completed the tournament 48th as junior Paola Cortes and senior Jamee Jorgensen tied for 49th with scores of 26-over 242. Jorgensen improved her second-round score by seven strokes Tuesday, shooting a 5-over 77 on the final 18 holes of play.

Five Southland teams finished atop the team standings as Bearkat Invitational host Sam Houston State captured the team title with a 13-over 877. Lamar (20-over 884) took home runner-up honors and two-time defending league champion Houston Baptist (26-over 890) finished third.
