NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head soccer coach Wally Crittenden announced Wednesday the signing of two players who join the program at the semester break. Incoming freshman Kenady Carlile (Porter, Texas/Porter HS) and transfer Elise Davis (Trophy Club, Texas/Oklahoma State) will each don a uniform for the Ladyjacks immediately in preparation for the upcoming Fall 2018 season.
"I am really excited to welcome these two players to our team this spring," said Crittenden. "Both will join us and be immediately eligible to participate in spring training and competition. The chance to come in and work every day within our environment and with their teammates in preparation for the fall is a special one and I know they will take advantage of that. I am really excited to see what they can do, and both will bring exceptional qualities on the flank and up top on the front line. Along with the soccer qualities we look for, being tough to play against and possessing high competitive character are qualities that we value and both of these players fit in to who we are as a program and the way we like to play."
Carlile comes to SFA after completing her prep career at Porter High School in Porter, Texas. The 5'5" forward was a district MVP and All-Region First Team selection as a freshman, and was selected to the All-State team as a sophomore. Carlile was a prominent goal scorer in two varsity seasons at Porter, scoring 53 goals as a freshman and sophomore. Carlile also competed as a member of club team Texas Rush and the Dash Development Academy.
"Kenady is a player we have been really excited about for several years now," said Crittenden. "She has great size, speed, and athleticism and is really good on the ball. She has tremendous competitive character and is someone we will look to include in the left flank and forward unit groups. She brings a great club background with her having competed in the Texas Rush ECNL and Dash Development Academy programs."
Joining the team for the spring alongside Carlile is Elise Davis, a transfer out of Oklahoma State that will give the Ladyjacks a boost up front as a winger/forward. A native of Trophy Club, Texas, Davis was a three-time All-District performer at Byron Nelson HS before beginning her playing career at OSU.
"Elise is a very powerful player," said Crittenden. "She is tough, physical, and brings really good speed to whatever position she is playing. Pair those qualities with an extremely high competitive character and desire to compete and you can see why we are excited about Elise and what she will bring to the squad this spring and beyond. She has a great soccer background coming to us from FC Dallas (ECNL) and collegiately at Oklahoma State. We will be looking to feature Elise in the right flank and forward groups."
