
Trio of Ladyjacks Named to Southland Conference All-Academic Teams

SFA places three on All-Academic Teams for second straight year

FRISCO, Texas –Three Stephen F. Austin women's soccer players were recognized for their commitment to academic success, per their selection to the conference All-Academic Teams on Thursday. Carli Arthurs and Hanna Barker were named First Team selections, while Madison Hall was selected to represent the 'Jacks on the Second Team.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must hold a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating school prior to the current season, and competed in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions during the most recently completed season. Votes are submitted by a head coach, sports information director and academic/compliance staff member from each school, without the ability to votes for athletes from one's own institution.
Arthurs was an automatic selection to the First Team with a 4.00 GPA after being named as the Southland's lone representative on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams as a Third Team selection. She started all 21 games and led the 'Jacks to become the toughest defense in the Southland Conference. The 'Jacks would surrender just eight goals in conference play, all while notching six conference shutouts. Arthurs also collected two goals and two assists while starting all 21 games, and was named a Southland Conference Honorable Mention.
Barker was selected to the First Team for the first time in her career, as she owns a 3.23 GPA in her Kinesiology studies. Her final season as a Ladyjack saw her repeat as Southland Conference Midfielder of the Year for the second straight season, along with garnering a First Team All-Conference selection. She scored nine goals and added six assists, finishing fourth all-time among SFA players in points (83), tied for fourth in goals (29), and second all-time in assists (25). Barker was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team for the second straight season.
Hall, a senior forward, was selected to her first All-Academic Team after posting a 3.25 GPA in Kinesiology. The Shreveport, Louisiana native scored four goals in her senior season for SFA, finishing fourth on the team in points, with nine. She started every game as a forward this season for an SFA offense that ranked in team goals (33), sixth in goals per game (1.57) and third in assists (28) among Southland teams,
All three players were every-game starters for the Ladyjacks, as they accrued a 12-8-1 record, a second place finish in the Southland Conference regular season standings, and advanced to the Southland Tournament championship game.
