Over 50 youngsters from the area go through basketball instruction with SFA players and staff
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Saturday afternoon, the Stephen F. Austin men's basketball team welcomed over 50 children of the Glory Gang, a non-profit, non-denominational outreach program dedicated to helping at-risk children ages 3-12 in Nacogdoches county, to William R. Johnson Coliseum for a two-hour session of basketball instruction and games.
It marked the second straight year in which members of the SFA team coaching staff coordinated the afternoon with the Glory Gang. The Glory Gang worked one-on-one or in groups with SFA players and coaches and were instructed in various basketball drills and fundamentals including passing, shooting and dribbling.
"This is one of my favorite days of the year," said SFA head coach Kyle Keller. "It is always great for me to watch our players interact with the youth of Nacogdoches. The smiles and lives they touch especially during the holiday season will hopefully make some memories for these children. Myself, our coaching staff and players had fantastic day teaching basketball and interacting with these young people."
