FARGO, ND – Four members of the Stephen F. Austin Track and Field program competed in meets in Fargo, North Dakota and Pittsburg, Kansas over the weekend. Heptathlon athletes Conner Wilbur and Hunter Key both competed in the event at the Dakota Classic in Fargo, while a pair of pole vaulters in Carson Dingler and Antonio Ruiz took part in the Crimson and Gold Invitational.
In Fargo, Key and Wilbur placed third and fourth overall in the men's heptathlon, as Key finished with a total of 4918, and Wilbur finished close behind at 4816. Antonio Ruiz also secured the top individual finish in the event with a mark of 5.22 meters, and is ranked fifth nationally up to this point.
"I was really pleased with the performance of Conner and Hunter in their first multi of the season", said SFA track and field coach Ron McCown. "For the vaulters down in Kansas, Carson Dingler opened up with a great accomplishment for a freshman, as her mark places her second in the nation to this point, and is the second best jump in SFA history. Antonio also had a quality start to the season, and his mark places him fifth in the nation. Overall, the accomplishments this weekend set the stage for an exciting indoor season ahead for the team."
