CoSIDA Academic All-District Release
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team strives for excellence both on the field and in the classroom, and saw a member of the 2017 team recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-District Honoree for her efforts. Defender Carli Arthurs was voted to her first Academic All-District First Team selection in a national release on Thursday, and will be eligible for Academic All-American consideration later on this month.
Arthurs, a sophomore who started every game at left back for the Ladyjacks this season, has proven to be a leader by example both on the field and in her studies. The Lewisville, Texas native carries a 4.00 GPA as a sophomore with a major in mathematics, and finished second on the team in minutes played, with 1,670. Arthurs also made an impact on the offensive end, scoring two goals and adding two assist for the Ladyjacks. She is the only District 7 honoree to carry a perfect GPA.
SFA advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament title game due in large part to the play of Arthurs, who was selected as an All-Conference Honorable Mention as well as being named a Southland Conference All-Tournament Team selection. The Ladyjacks also finished the season as the Southland's stingiest defenses, ranking first in conference play in goals allowed (eight) and goals against average (.72) and ranked second with six shutouts in 11 Southland contests.
The Ladyjacks were the only program in the Southland Conference to have a First Team Academic All-District selection in the release.
