Southland Week Seven TV Selections
FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin's week seven football road game at current No. 8 Central Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 14 will be the Southland Conference's ESPN3 Game of the Week, the league office and its television partners revealed Monday afternoon. The Southland also announced the remainder of its TV selections and broadcast times for week seven of conference play.
The Lumberjacks (2-3, 2-1 Southland) and the Bears (3-1, 2-0 Southland) will kick off at 6 p.m. from First Security Field at Estes Stadium as the game will be exclusively available through the ESPN streaming service. The game can be watched online at WatchESPN.com and through the ESPN app.
Central Arkansas is currently ranked No. 8 in the latest FCS Coaches Poll and No. 6 in the most recent STATS FCS Top 25 poll after knocking off previously undefeated and third-ranked Sam Houston State 41-30 this past Saturday at home. The Bears currently sit atop the Southland as the only team without a conference loss this season, while SFA is in a five-way tie for second with only one league defeat.
Head Coach Clint Conque is seeking his first win over his former team as the 'Jacks will try to snap a four-game losing streak against the Bears. A year ago, SFA suffered a 34-14 defeat inside Homer Bryce Stadium to then No. 17 Central Arkansas. The 'Jacks were handed a 36-24 loss during their last trip to Conway, Arkansas, on Nov. 7, 2015.
The game at Central Arkansas will be SFA's sixth contest streamed live on ESPN3 so far this season.
The 'Jacks have their attention on the 92nd Battle of the Piney Woods and third-ranked Sam Houston State. Presented by H-E-B at NRG Stadium in Houston, SFA will be attempting to snap a six-game losing streak in the matchup and diminish the Bearkats' 54-35-2 all-time record in the series. Kickoff from Houston is slated for Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. The rivalry between Sam Houston State and the 'Jacks dates back to the 1923 season and is the fourth-longest active rivalry in the state of Texas.
The game at Central Arkansas will be SFA's sixth contest streamed live on ESPN3 so far this season.
