Greetings from the future my fellow Jacks! New Zealand is about 17 hours ahead from Texas so it is technically a day ahead over here during the daytime. Today on our "fun day" we had the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature in this beautiful country!
To start off we had a team seminar where we read bible verses that reflected on the beauty of the Earth. Following our seminar, we made a 30-minute hiking trip through the mountains and at the end of our journey we found ourselves at Kitekite Falls. This was the most beautiful waterfall I've ever seen and I was just in awe of the beauty of the scenery around me. I had to take a quick dip in the water and I can say that it was definitely the coldest water I've ever swam in.
After the falls we drove down to Piha Beach. This beach had black sand and a landform known as Lion Rock. Lion Rock is a huge rock that is the remains of a 16-million-year-old volcanic neck and it was towering over the ocean. I went with my teammates and climbed all the way to the top of the rock where we were able to look over the ocean and the nearby city. No picture or video could ever recreate such an experience in its entirety. To be able to conquer my fear of heights, get to the top of this extremely tall rock and be able to view God's beautiful creation is something that will live with me forever!
After our adventures at the beach we took a little time to relax at the water park where they had hot water pools and many water slides to choose from. We ended the day perfectly with some ice cream on our way back home.
Today was a day for us to truly enjoy New Zealand and all it had to offer and with the experiences we had today it has given me the motivation to travel to other parts of the world and appreciate how magnificent the world really is! We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow and two games to play so it's time I hit the sheets. So as always, until next time, Axe 'Em!
