ESTERO, Fla. – Stephen F. Austin shaved seven shots off its opening round total and moved up one spot in the team standings, sitting 10th through two rounds at the FGCU Eagle Invitational. The Ladyjacks shot a 23-over 311 in round two and is at 54-over 629 for the tournament.
Senior Sydney Reed continues to pace the Ladyjacks, shooting a 3-over 75 in round two to give her a two-day score of 9-over 153, moving into the top-20 of the individual leaderboard tied for 17th. She holds a three-shot edge on junior Jessie White, who posted a 5-over 77 in round two and is at 12-over 156, tied for 32nd overall.
Junior Courtney Ford sits third on the Ladyjack scorecard with a 15-over 159 following her 8-over 80 Saturday. Senior Mackenzie Steiner and junior Ann Holcomb are both tied at 19-over 163 after Steiner shot a 9-over 81 and Holcomb carded a 7-over 79 over the second round.
Entering the day tied for 11th overall, SFA was able to pull ahead of both McNeese State and Florida Atlantic, leading the 11th-place Cowgirls (58-over 634) by five strokes and is now nine shots better than the 12th-place Owls (62-over 638). SFA also overtook Drake (67-over 643), which feel to 13th, and remains five shots back of ninth-place Ball State (48-over 624).
Mercer continues to hold the team lead at 18-over 594, extending its lead over second-place Toledo (31-over 607) to a commanding 13 strokes. Elon (32-over 608) is third with host Florida Gulf Coast (33-over 609) and Xavier (34-over 610) rounding out the top-five.
Sunday’s final round gets underway at 7 a.m. CT as SFA will team up with McNeese State and Florida Atlantic in the final round pairings. Once again, the Ladyjacks will tee off on holes 9-11 as live scoring will be available at BirdieFire.com. Full results will be posted to SFAJacks.com as they become available.
