The SFA lineup this weekend will be one of the most experienced of the season, consisting of seniors Sydney Reed and Mackenzie Steiner and juniors Courtney Ford, Ann Holcomb and Jessie White. White was the top Ladyjack golfer through the fall season, registering a 75.93 scoring average in all five events with a pair of top-10 finishes. Reed was the only other SFA golfer to play in all five events, ranking second on the team with a 77.29 average with a pair of top-20 showings.
SFA in Florida
This weekend’s event marks SFA’s first trip to the FGCU Eagle Invitational and the third time in program history the Ladyjacks will compete in a tournament in the state of Florida. The last came in March of 2105 when SFA placed 10th at the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational in Dunnellon, following a 13th-place showing at JMU Eagle Landing Invitational in Orange Park in 2014.
Last Time Out
SFA closed out the fall portion of its schedule with a 14th-place showing at the Little Rock Golf Classic on November 3, 2015. The Ladyjacks posted a 71-over 935, led by Jessie White’s 14-over 230 to finish tied for 32nd. It closed out a fall slate that saw SFA register three top-10 finishes, including repeating as champions of the UIW Fall Invitational and placing third at the ORU Shootout.
Looking Ahead
Following this weekend’s trip to Florida, SFA then heads to the opposite coast, traveling to Riverside, California for the Battle at the Rock. Hosted by UC-Riverside, the two-day event will be held February 22-23 at Oak Quarry Golf Club.
