NACOGDOCHES, Texas - With today’s win on the books, this year will the seventh time in program history that the Ladyjacks have had a 4-0 start in conference. This is the Ladyjacks fourth shutout of the season, and they stay undefeated in conference play.
Junior Hanna Barker had another tremendous game, tacking on another goal to her season record. She now had seven season goal, which ties her career high record. Sophomore Breanna Moore added on the second goal for the Ladyjacks in a net scramble. She, also, has tied her career high record for goals (4).
Barker would lead the Ladyjacks in shots with three shots on the afternoon. Moore would have two and six other Ladyjacks would have one shot apiece. Senior Lillie Ehlert stayed in the net all 90 minutes earning her eighth win on the season. She had two saves on McNeese’s six shots.
"Another good weekend from this group. There is continued improvement and our preparation is putting us in really good positions throughout the match," said Head Coach Wally Crittenden.
SFA would start the hot with a shot from Barker and two corner kicks. Barker would find her break in the 9th minute and rip the ball past the McNeese goalie, putting SFA up 1-0. Senior Brooke Dunnigan would get a chance at a header shot off a corner from Junior Madison Hall, but the McNeese Cowgirls would put an end to that play at the 29:14 minute mark. Time would wind down to the 40th minute before SFA could get another shot. This one was a dribble up the middle by senior Meghan Corder, but she would miss it just wide to the left.
After the intermission, the Ladyjacks would get three shot off in the first 18 minutes but could not get it through. It would take a scramble in the net from an SFA corner kick for sophomore Bailey Bosley to somehow find the feet of Moore who would muscle it through for an SFA goal. The Ladyjacks would be on the defensive the rest of the half allowing McNeese four shots before the end of the match.
The Ladyjacks outshot the Cowgirls 11-6, and lead with 8-4 corner kicks. McNeese finished the game with five saves and Ehlert had two.
"Perhaps the most exciting part of this weekend is getting two shutouts and limiting our opponents to 8 total shots against for the whole weekend while creating many great chances. We will keep moving forward and now turn our full attention to Central Arkansas on Friday," finished Crittenden.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action for the last game of their three game home-stand on October 7th. They will have an epic showdown as they take on the 3-0-1 Central Arkansas Bears. Opening kick is set for 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will be live streamed on ESPN3.
