SFA Result: T-10th out of 12 teams (34-over 322) through round one
Top Performer: Sydney Reed (5-over 77) tied for 22nd
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Playing in its first tournament of the 2015-16 season, SFA completed one and a half rounds at the 2015 Marilynn Smith Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas. Through round one, the Ladyjacks were tied for 10th overall, shooting a 34-over 322.
After a delay to start the second round, the 12-team field was able to complete about half of round two before play had to be halted. The teams will resume play at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday morning before beginning the final round immediately after.
Senior Sydney Reed paced the Ladyjacks through round one, shooting a 5-over 77 and is tied for 22nd overall. Junior Courtney Ford is one shot back of Reed, posting a 7-over 79 through the opening 18 holes and is tied for 35th overall.
Junior Ann Holcomb shot a 10-over 82 in round one, two shots better than fellow junior Jessie White’s 12-over 84. Sophomore Jamee Jorgensen rounded out the SFA scorecard with a 14-over 86.
After 18 holes, SFA is tied with Nebraska for 10th overall at 34-over 322, seven shots back of ninth-place Florida Gulf Coast (27-over 315) and 10 strokes behind eighth-place Kansas (24-over 312).
Middle Tennessee sat atop the leaderboard after round one, posting a 7-over 295 and leading both Missouri and SMU (8-over 296) by one stroke. Southland Conference rival Central Arkansas is fourth with a 10-over 298 with TCU (14-over 302) and host Kansas State (18-over 306) rounding out the top-six.
