LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Stephen F. Austin posted a 14-over 590 through the opening two rounds of the UALR First Tee Classic as the Lumberjacks are tied for ninth among the 16-team field.
SFA opened up the 54-hole event with a 6-over 294 in round one as the Lumberjacks were tied for sixth overall following the opening 18 holes. SFA then added a pair of strokes to its first round total, carding an 8-over 296 in round two to finish with the 14-over 590.
Junior Luke Sheehan paced SFA on Monday, including a 3-under 69 in round two to help move him into a tie for 11th overall in the individual standings. Sheehan is at an even-par 144 after carding a 3-over 75 in round one. Freshman Tony Underwood just missed sitting among the top-20 as well, posting a 2-over 146, including a 1-under 71 in round one, and is tied for 21st overall.
Junior Nathan Weant is tied for 40th with a 5-over 149 (73-76) with senior Blake Pugh at 10-over 152 (75-77). Sophomore Baxter Ward rounds out the SFA scorecard with a 13-over 157 (81-76) with senior Bradley Phelps shooting a 7-over 151 as an individual, including an even-par 72 in round one.
SFA enters Tuesday's final round tied for ninth with Lipscomb as the duo hold a four shot lead on 11th-place UT-Martin (18-over 594). The `Jacks are one shot back of eighth-place Indian Hills C.C. (13-over 589) and are three back of seventh-place Missouri State (11-over 587).
Tulsa holds the team lead after 36 holes with a 1-under 575, leading host Arkansas-Little Rock (1-over 577) by two strokes. Memphis (5-over 581) and McNeese State (6-over 582) occupy the third and fourth spots with Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe (8-over 584) tied for fifth, six shots ahead of the `Jacks.
Tuesday's final round gets underway with a shotgun start as the Lumberjacks will be teamed up with UT-Martin and Central Arkansas for the final 18 holes. Full results will be posted at SFAJacks.com as they become available.
